Palm bowls will undoubtedly charm you and your customer, and at the same time they are in line with your ecological beliefs and thinking.
Palm bowls - ecology in practice
Our palm bowls are a purely natural ecological product . They are produced from fallen betel areca leaves on areca plantations in India as a "by-product" of betel areca processing. Due to the production of our palm tableware, no new plantations are established and no space is created for the existing ones by clearing the rainforest. And where does our palm ware actually come from? Exclusively from the areas of the Indian state of Tamil Nadu in the south of the peninsula. There, rainforests occur from an altitude of about 1,500 m above sea level, and areca plantations are not naturally planted in such areas. The betel nut loses 4 to 7 leaves per year, and if they were not used for the production of palm ware, they would be left to rot on the ground or be burned. Therefore, they are collected, dried, cleaned and then slightly moistened and molded under high pressure at high temperatures in presses. Thanks to this procedure, the palm bowls are strong, resistant to grease and seepage and, of course, suitable for contact with food . Palmware is 100% compostable , exceptional, and each piece is unique with the texture of areca leaves.
The palm bowl qualifies for the BSCI standard - fair production
Today, the production of our palm bowls creates more than 180 year-round jobs with adequate pay and suitable working conditions. Our partners helped transform a partner company in India from a small family business to a modern operation. The effort to maintain quality means that our partners have completed qualification according to BSCI (Business Social Compliance Initiative), which formulates the strictest and world-recognized criteria. The essence of the qualification is naturally the repetition of the verification of the entire supply and production chain. Our European partner makes regular trips to India to verify, independently of inspection, the fair production of the palm bowls we offer.
